Reception for the members of the La Casa Uruguaya project

On December 28, 2015, a reception was held at the Downtown Campus for the members of the La Casa Uruguaya team—composed of students, alumni, and faculty from the schools of Architecture, Engineering, Communication and Design, and Business and Social Sciences—which won first place in the international Solar Decathlon competition on December 15.

The event consisted of a ceremony honoring the key figures behind this self-sustaining architectural project, which won not only the jury’s first prize but also the prize awarded based on public voting, as well as first place in the “Innovation” and “Energy Balance” categories.

The La Casa Uruguaya project La Casa Uruguaya a home designed for five people that fosters responsible consumption habits and promotes efficient energy use.

Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the School of Architecture, gave a presentation and, together with Engineer Mario Fernández, dean of the School of Engineering, presented the awards to all project participants and sponsoring companies.

The event was organized by the School of Architecture.
