SCImago Journal & Country Rank
SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a public portal that provides scientific indicators for journals and countries based on data from Scopus. Its main indicator, the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), measures the visibility and influence of journals using an algorithm that, according to the platform itself, is similar to PageRank and weights the prestige of the citing sources; therefore, it is not limited to simply counting citations, but also considers the relative weight of where they come from.
The logic behind quartiles is equally important. SCImago explains that journals are ranked by their SJR and then divided into four equal groups: Q1 contains the quartile with the highest values, Q2 the second, Q3 the third, and Q4 the lowest.
In this context, which Annals of Architectural Research has moved from Q4 to Q3 in Architecture specifically means that it improved its relative ranking within that category in the SJR 2025.
