Interview published in September 2008.

In 2003, Alejandro began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in International Studies at ORT University. In 2005, he worked at the Branáa tannery, where he handled export documentation. He currently works at the multinational company Tenaris, where he records the logistics operations of the firm’s various subsidiaries.

In the summer of 2003, Alejandro received an invitation from ORT University to attend information sessions on the various degree programs. "I attended a session on the Bachelor's Degree in International Studies and decided to enroll a few days later. I liked the program because I thought it had a good mix of courses. With business-related courses such as International Trade, Marketing, Economics, History, Diplomacy, Domestic Policy, and International Policy, among others, the program offers various career opportunities in different fields."

He highlighted the university's study methodology. "The rules and deadlines are clear, and you have to follow them. The ORT is very strict, and that's a good thing because it gets you used to the working world, where you have to meet deadlines."

He understands that teamwork is encouraged at the university. "That approach is very positive because you gain experience working in groups, and it helps build bonds among students." He also highlighted the fact that they were part of the same group for four years. "It allowed me to form a close-knit group of friends and classmates who still get together to this day."

He says he is very happy with the career choice he made. "I plan to continue my studies to specialize in international politics and international relations." According to Alejandro, the degree program provided him with a broad general education. "That knowledge has allowed me to better connect with people from diverse cultures because I have learned the fundamentals of how the globalized world we live in works."

He currently works for the multinational company Tenaris (a firm dedicated to the production and export of steel pipes and other services for the oil, petrochemical, and automotive industries, among others). "At this company, I enter the logistics operations of some of the subsidiaries located around the world into the computer system. I am in constant contact with colleagues from different countries."

Alejandro wants to continue his studies and plans to pursue a master’s degree in international studies in the United States. Before that, he would like to write research papers for the university or other organizations and thus begin working in the field he is most passionate about: international politics.
