Awards for works by faculty and graduates of the Audiovisual Program

The ninth edition of the Nuevo - Detour Film Festival took place from October 11 to 16, featuring 191 films across nine competition categories, showcasing the latest works by Chilean filmmakers.

Among the award-winning works are projects by faculty members and graduates from the Audiovisual Department of the School of Communication and Design:

TheNuevo - Detour Film Festival is the only Uruguayan festival dedicated to local film production. has by the Montevideo Audiovisual Office of the Montevideo City Government, the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts of Uruguay, the Itaú Foundation, and Agadu. The event took place at the Nelly Goitiño Auditorium, the Uruguayan Film Archive, the Zitarrosa Hall, and the University Cinema.

Graduate project awarded by the 2021 Film and Audiovisual Development Fund

The film project *Las quemadas*, by Paula Botana, a graduate of theBachelor’s Degree in Communication with a concentration in Audiovisual Studies, received an award from the 2021 Film and Audiovisual Development Fund of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts in the category of Audiovisual Content Development – Fiction Feature Film Screenplay.

Botana wrote the script for her final college project.

The evaluation committee released the results on October 21, 2021.

Graduate film projects selected for the Santiago International Film Festival

The project *Historias pasajeras*, by Carajito Films, co-founded and directed by Alfonso Lourido, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, was selected among the series projects from the Southern Cone to be presented at the Santiago International Film Festival (Sanfic), specifically at Sanfic Industria, which will take place from October 27 to November 5, 2021.

Carajito Films is also participating in Santiago Lab with its feature film project*Reaching for the Moon*.
