On December 8, 2017, Dr. Inés Kereki, professor of Programming, evaluated 30 teachers who completed the Computational Thinking MOOC course at Ceibal.
The Computational Thinking course aims to help students develop basic skills for identifying a problem, understanding it, and arriving at innovative solutions. This four-week course is available on Ceibal’s Crea platform and currently has 1,100 enrolled participants, including teachers from across the country at the elementary, secondary, and UTU levels. Since October 2017, a pilot project for the course has been underway in 50 full-time schools.
In addition, Dr. Kereki attended the course closing ceremony and diploma presentation, which took place on December 12, 2017, and was organized by Plan Ceibal. During the event, the evaluation of the first computational thinking initiative in the education system was presented, teachers and students shared their experiences from the pilot project, and a panel of officials was convened to reflect on the project and its scope.
