The launch event took place on Thursday, August 27, at the Centro Auditorium and was attended by representatives from CEMPRE and the Academic Secretary of the School of Design, industrial designer Oscar Aguirre.
Aimed at college students and professionals in the field, the contest seeks to raise awareness about the importance of sorting recyclable waste—both at home and in institutions—through innovative products and communication campaigns.
Deadline and prizes
The application deadline is September 25.
The prizes include:
- $25,000 in cash
- 2 scholarships for the UNIT/ISO 14000 Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management
- 2 spots available in the Waste and Recycling course (UNIT/CEMPRE)
- 2 spots available for entrepreneurship training courses (Endeavor)
In addition, the jury may award Special Mentions to entries that stand out for their originality or significant contribution.
Contest Objectives
- Design a product or product system for source separation of waste, suitable for use in homes, institutions, schools, and high schools.
- Develop a communication strategy to raise awareness of the issue and promote the use of the product, particularly in family and educational settings.
