Camila Rodríguez is 22 years old and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Design, Art, and Technology. For her final thesis project, she created Emotia, a digital art project that translates brain activity into an immersive artistic performance, combining a brain-computer interface with artificial intelligence to create generative art based on her own brain waves.

In an interview with Telemundo on Channel 12, Camila Rodríguez explained that Emotia is “a combination of the words ‘emotions’ and ‘artificial intelligence,’ but it is also a blend of art, technology, neuroscience, and design.”
I wanted to work with artificial intelligence so that I could show that it’s not something to be afraid of, but rather a tool that, in this project, gives us the ability to enhance traditional human capabilities. For example, just as the microscope was invented so that our eyes could see things that are microscopic.
ArtFutura, where Emotia is on display, will be open until June 2 at the Contemporary Art Space.
