CityCop made a strong showing at Disrupt 18 in San Francisco

The startup, led by two graduates of the Master's program in Technology Business Management, received support from Uruguay XXI to participate in the technology fair as a startup.

CityCop, a renowned Uruguayan startup that was initially incubated at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is led by Marcelo Dotti and Nadim Curi, graduates of the Master’s in Technology Business Management program, made a strong showing at the Disrupt 18 technology fair, organized by TechCrunch in San Francisco (United States), where various startups showcased their most innovative projects and sought to break into the U.S. market.

Uruguay XXI, the Uruguayan government’s agency for promoting exports, investment, and the country’s image, coordinated the participation of startups from our country at the trade show. With this support, CityCop made its presence felt in San Francisco at one of the most important annual events for learning about the latest industry developments. The app, which has 250,000 users, is available in São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Montevideo.

This is a community-based GPS alert system for cell phones that helps combat crime and protect people in dangerous situations. Through this collaborative platform, users can join forces to report crimes or unsafe situations and receive real-time alerts on their cell phones.

The tool was launched in May 2014 and was well received in Uruguay and several other countries in the region, such as Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, where it reached 40,000 users in its first four months. By May 2015, the platform had more than 100,000 users.
