"Comic Workshop: From Belgium and Portugal to Uruguay"

On May 18 and 19, the School of Communication hosted the “Comics Workshop: From Belgium and Portugal to Uruguay,” led by Xavier Lowenthal (Belgium) and Luis Henriques (Portugal). The event, organized with the support of Montevideo Comics, was aimed at students and graduates of the Digital Animation Technician program.

On May 18 and 19, the School of Communication hosted the “Comic Workshop: From Belgium and Portugal to Uruguay,” led by Xavier Lowenthal (Belgium) and Luis Henriques (Portugal). The event, organized with the support of Montevideo Comics, was aimed at students and graduates of the Digital Animation Technician program.

Xavier Lowenthal is a comic artist, editor, and comic theorist, and the founder of the publishing house La 5º Couche. His visit to Uruguay marks the first step in the agreement with the Comic Festival Network.

Luis Henriques is a prominent comic artist from Portugal. One of his most successful works is *Tratado de Umbrografía*, a dense and avant-garde comic that has been published in several countries and has won numerous awards. Other works include: *Babinski*, *MetrópeloFeérica*, *Maria*, *Pai Natal não existe*, and *Quero ir à Praia*.
