Conference: “Photovoltaic Solar Energy at La Casa Uruguaya

On April 21, 2016, the Faculty of Architecture hosted a lecture titled “Photovoltaic Solar Energy in La Casa Uruguaya.” Members of the multidisciplinary team behind the self-sustaining housing project La Casa Uruguaya—winner of the 2015 international Solar Decathlon competition—explained how solar energy works in the project.

With regard to the project's solar system, they discussed its calculations, investment, and design.

The speakers were:

- Andrés Eliseo Cabrera, Architect, a consultant in bioclimatic architecture and solar thermal energy. He is a founding member of the Uruguayan Solar Chamber. He is in charge of Special Projects in the field of Bioclimatic Architecture (organizing events and academic programs related to the field) at the School of Architecture. He is a tenured professor of Bioclimatic Design, Thermal Conditioning, and Workshop 7 at the faculty.

- Nicolás López, a student in the Bachelor’s program in Management and Administration.
