Lecture: "Design and Memory: Remembering the Holocaust"

In his lecture—accompanied by an audiovisual presentation—Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the School of Architecture at Universidad ORT Uruguay, discussed the various ways of capturing memory.

The event, organized by the Department of Jewish Studies, took place on November 9, 2017, in the Auditorium on the Pocitos Campus.

Gastón Boero is an architect. He is a member of the Board of Jurors of the Uruguayan Society of Architects. He served as vice president of the Auxiliary Council of Los Pocitos, Municipality of Montevideo. In his professional practice, which he has maintained from 1987 to the present, he has served as a designer and construction manager, receiving awards and honors, notably the first prize in the National Competition for the Memorial to the Holocaust of the Jewish People, designated a National Historic Monument in 1995. He has served as an evaluator for the Technological Development Program (PDT) in the energy sector (2003–2008) and as a juror in architectural competitions. He is dean of the School of Architecture at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
