The creator of the Dragonbox video game series speaks about educational video games and the role of teachers in the future

As part of the 2nd Sinergia Education Forum | Art, Design, Communication, and Technology, organized by the School of Communication and Design, a lecture titled “Educational Video Games: The Role of the Teacher of the Future” was held on May 27, 2015.

The speaker was Jean-Baptiste Huynh, creator of the Dragonbox video game series, which revolutionized the teaching of algebra and geometry.

The lecture was aimed at teachers, professors, and education officials in Uruguay. It was organized by the faculty’s Video Games Department.

The 2nd Sinergia Education Forum will take place on July 29 and 30, 2015, at the university. Its purpose is to bring together and connect the local educational community to share best practices and innovative experiences, with the goal of collaborating to improve the learning outcomes of current students and future professionals in Uruguay.

Jean-Baptiste Huynh is the director of the video game studio WeWantToKnow in Norway. His video game Dragonbox was described by The New York Times as “the most impressive math education app we’ve seen.”
