The Bachelor's Program in Design, Art, and Technology presented the first exhibition by its first class of students through two simultaneous installations at the School of Design.
The Erasure of Space
Inspired by the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, students in Project 1—Visual Arts explored the dot as a fundamental element in design and art through various activities, specifically focusing on the dot in space. Building on this foundation, they created an installation of vinyl dots in Room D02 of the School of Design.
Fabián Barros, M.A., a professor for Project 1 and academic coordinator of the bachelor’s program, noted that they drew inspiration from the work *Obliteration Room* and titled their own project *Obliteration of Space*.
“The students started it as part of their curriculum, then we placed vinyl dots, and those who were at ORT were invited to contribute by adding more dots to the space,” thereby turning it into a collaborative work, just as Kuzama does, Barros explained.
