On January 29, 2019, at 10 a.m., the Uruguayan Parliament will commemorate the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, established by the United Nations. The event, which is held annually around the world, will take place in our country in the Senate Chamber of the Legislative Palace.
On November 1, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly decided to designate January 27 as the annual International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. On that date in 1945, Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
