Díaz Maggioli served on the Fulbright Scholarship Selection Committee

Dr. Gabriel Díaz Maggioli was selected to serve on the Fulbright Scholarship Selection Committee, in cooperation with the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), for graduate studies in the United States.

Díaz Maggioli was selected to serve on that committee as a representative of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and held that position during the month of June 2023.  

According to the Fulbright website, the scholarship was “created to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and Uruguay through international education.”

It is awarded through an open competition, based on the applicants' academic excellence and leadership qualities.

Gabriel Díaz Maggioli holds a Ph.D. in Education and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Bath (United Kingdom). He also holds a postgraduate degree in Governance and Management of Teacher Training and Professional Development from The Pennsylvania State University (United States). He is an English teacher and a graduate of the Artigas Teachers’ Institute (Uruguay).

He is currently a Level I researcher in the Social Sciences field, Education Sciences subfield, ofthe National System of Researchers(SNI). At the same time, he serves as a graduate-level instructor and as the academic coordinator of the Specialization Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and the Advanced Certificate in Teaching English atUniversidad ORT Uruguay.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) association in the United States, and since 2020 has been the first Latin American president of the International Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (IATEFL), based in the United Kingdom.
