Digital Leaders: A Glimpse into the Future of Business

December 23, 2024
The "Digital Leaders" event brought together experts and students to explore the impact of digitalization on the business world.

Digital Leaders

Speakers included students Luca Spektor and Pedro Laborde, Leandro Bustos, an engineer, Alejandro Esperanza, who holds an MBA, and Cecilia González, who holds a master’s degree, all of whom shared their perspectives and experiences regarding the challenges and opportunities in this field.

The conference, organized by the Digital Business Program at Universidad ORT Uruguay, was held on December 5 at Cubo Itaú.

Finding the Way

Student Pedro Laborde described how he began his studies in Systems Engineering during the pandemic, but soon realized that it wasn't his true calling.

At Negocios Digitales, we identify and solve problems through a long and comprehensive process, using tools and methodologies that we learn and put into practice. We occupy a strategic, highly valuable position that is currently missing from the system: the hybrid role. We are fluent in both technical and business languages.

Apply knowledge to the workplace

Luca Spektor shared a similar story. He said that he had also started studying Systems Engineering, but felt that the program was too technical for his interests.

I don't consider it a failure because investing in education is always a win, but I decided to switch paths. I came across the Bachelor's Degree in Digital Business. From the very first moment, during the introductory course, I realized this was exactly what I wanted—100% certain.

He also noted positively that he was able to work while studying.

An international perspective

Leandro Bustos, an instructor in the program, emphasized that the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Business offers an ideal setting for those who wish to explore their interests without having to define a specific path from the outset.

“These days, we’re bombarded with choices. This program allows students to discover what they enjoy while developing the skills needed to meet the demands of a growing digital market,” he reflected. He also emphasized that it encourages students to overcome their fear of failure, learn from it, and take the initiative with confidence.

Expert opinion

Alejandro Esperanza, MBA, noted that the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Business is fully aligned with the demands of the job market. “I invite you to consider a degree program that offers career opportunities. As employers, we are looking for candidates like you—people who are prepared to tackle the changes and opportunities that will continue to shape the evolution of business.”

For his part, Juan Manuel Pancic emphasized the importance of hybrid profiles: “Combining business and programming opens many doors much more quickly than if one focuses solely on a single area.”

Cecilia González, coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Business, emphasized that the program aims to train professionals who can solve problems through technology—a crucial approach for addressing the challenges of the future.
