Professor Charlotte de Grünberg, president of Universidad ORT Uruguay, attended the commemoration of Kristallnacht in Montevideo, which took place on November 12, 2019, at the headquarters of the New Israelite Congregation of Uruguay – Bait Jadash.
On that occasion, the keynote speaker at the event was the rector the Catholic University of Uruguay, Fr. Dr. Julio Fernández Techera, S.I.
In his speech, Dr. Fernández said: “One of the main reasons for this commemoration is to remember what happened in order to honor the victims, but also to ensure that it is not forgotten and serves as a lesson for the present and the future, so that it never happens again.”
