From February 10 to 12, Professor Diego Telias participated in the workshop “Legal Dimension of China’s Presence in Latin America,” organized by the Faculty of Law at the University of Barcelona, with support from the European China Law Studies Association, DIDUE (Research Group on International and EU Law), the University of Cologne (Germany), and CIDOB (Barcelona Center for International Affairs). He delivered his presentation, “China in Latin America: Geopolitical Shifts, Strategic Alignments, and Emerging Challenges,” via an online format.
Meanwhile, on March 9, Professor Sebastián Moreno presented his research on currency design during the “Smart Semiotics” webinar. In the session titled “The Semiotics of Contemporary Currency Design,” he discussed how the design elements used to adorn contemporary currency draw on preexisting social discourses and meanings, typically linked to the state, the nation, and cultural memory.
