As part of a self-organized trip, faculty members, students, and alumni from the School of Architecture visited the renowned WOHA studio in Singapore, where they were welcomed by its director, Architect Hong Wei Phua.

WOHA was founded by Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell in 1994. It is a Singapore-based firm that specializes in developing integrated architectural and urban solutions to address 21st-century challenges such as climate change, population growth, and rapid urbanization.

In this regard, the firm is a global leader in sustainable architecture.

The firm works on a variety of scales, from interiors and architecture to public spaces and regenerative master plans, incorporating a systems-thinking approach into every project.

Their buildings are prototypes consisting of interconnected environments on a human scale, fostering community, facilitating the management of nature, creating biophilic beauty, enhancing ecosystem services, and building resilience.

The self-organized visit, coordinated by architect Eliseo Cabrera, took place on January 23, 2024, and included a lecture for the group, which consisted of professor Alejandra Amaro, graduates Mariana Long, Patricia Rodríguez, and Jackeline Rodríguez, and upperclassmen Luciana Peinafo, Ericka Alba, Joaquín Mainard, and Sabrina Esponda.
