Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at ORT

As part of the Doctor of Computer Engineering program, Universidad ORT Uruguay courses taught by renowned professors were held at Universidad ORT Uruguay in August.

The Doctorate in Computer Engineering is a doctoral program established through an agreement between Universidad ORT Uruguay the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). 

The courses offered in August were:

  • Web Engineering: Quality of Websites and Web Applications, led by Dr. Luis Olsina;
  • Organizational Theory and Its Application to Changes in Information Technology, presented by Dr. Juan Carlos Nogueira.

Luis Olsina holds a Ph.D. in Science and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from the National University of La Plata (UNLP) in Argentina; he is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the UNLP School of Engineering; visiting professor in the Doctorate in Technologies program at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oviedo, Spain; director of R&D Projects at the Software Engineering R&D Group (GIDIS) and participant in European R&D projects.

Juan Carlos Nogueira holds a PhD in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, United States. He also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Information Systems from Universidad ORT Uruguay; he is Chief of Information Technology for the National Navy, Director of the Department of Information Systems, and Academic Coordinator of Graduate Programs at the ORT School of Engineering.
