Libraries at the Service of Students

The Centro and Pocitos Libraries aim to provide members of the university community with access to the scientific, technical, and professional information they need to carry out their work, both in print and online.

Libraries adapt to the changing needs of their communities by becoming spaces for collaborative work where sharing takes precedence over individual reading. In an environment where digital information resources play a central role, libraries position themselves as facilitators of access, providing training in their use to support the knowledge-building processes of students, teachers, and researchers.

The library offers a collection of over 82,000 items, including books, periodicals, final projects and theses, multimedia materials, and online resources (e-books and databases).

The information contained in library databases is reviewed and validated by experts, enabling users to quickly obtain relevant results that are endorsed by the scientific community. While the internet facilitates many human activities and contributes to the personal development of its users, it also carries risks: it can lead to information overload and wasted time, and provide false, incorrect, or unreliable information. Circular Library

This year-round initiative brings together people who love reading and also want to be agents of change in the areas of sustainability and environmental protection.

Here's how it works: interested participants bring a book they like to one of the library branches and exchange it for another book they'd like to read.

In short, the Circular Library lets you read new books and help protect the environment at the same time.

"Since 2021, ORT has been included in THE Impact Rankings, a sustainability ranking that measures universities' performance based on the Sustainable Development Goals. The Circular Library is one of the initiatives that contributes to SDG 12 on responsible consumption and production, as books in good condition are exchanged, extending their useful life by reaching other people who can benefit from them. Furthermore, promoting reading contributes to SDG 4: quality education," concludes Inés Tiscornia, M.A., ORT’s deputy coordinator of Environmental Management.

This initiative, which celebrates National Book Day, is just one of the many activities that libraries offer throughout the year: on-site and home loans, renewals, reservations, and more are available on their websites and at their locations.
