From February 2 to 14, architect Jorge Migues, artist and professor at the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at Universidad ORT Uruguay, will present his solo exhibition “Dos Madrid” in Spain.
Two forces, two colors: a quest in motion
In this new project, Architect Migues proposes a design imbued with a creative tension that he defines precisely:
“To represent the two forces clashing within me; the architect, with his clean, straight, defined, and orderly lines, felt he was losing ground to the free artist, bound by nothing but his own expression.”

That search was a long struggle, one that he does not yet consider over. The starting point of “Two Madrid“is built on that duality: “two forces, two colors” and an inner interpretation that, far from resolving itself into a convenient synthesis, is driven by conflict.
This tension serves as a form of defiance against the established order, paving the way for the emergence of a new language. It is precisely at this intersection of discipline and freedom that a particularly significant territory emerges for the field of design: the value of the manual as a tool for thought, exploration, and communication.
In an age of generative artificial intelligence, technocracy, and mass-produced yet superfluous aesthetics, in *Migues*, this dimension transcends mere technical preference to establish itself as a way of sustaining both expressiveness and craftsmanship in a single gesture.

Florence: Intensive Training
While preparing this solo exhibition in Madrid, Migues is currently in Florence (Italy), conducting 15 days of intensive workshops at the Accademia del Giglio, an experience she describes as “a process of refining her drawing skills, with approaches that alternate between the academic and the expressive.”

According to the instructor, the goal of the workshop is to practice drawing “not merely as an exercise in precision,” but also as a tool for expression: a practice that returns to the basics—paper, pencil, and hand—to explore ways of convey ideas, atmospheres, and decisions using basic means.

The work involves demanding shifts, with four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon, and offers an exploration of essential techniques aimed at achieving different graphic outcomes: from figure studies and portraits to exercises focused on volume, texture, and the construction of the plane.

From the School of Architecture to Europe
The exhibition “Dos Madrid” is part of a recent series of exhibitions that have garnered international attention. In January 2024, Migues exhibited at the renowned Port Gallery in Barcelona as part of the exhibition “Sexual Dreams and Fantasies,” where he presented a work that explored—from a subtle perspective—the body and its representations.

Months later, in June 2024, he was once again invited to present his work in Madrid at Captaloona Art, as part of a group exhibition titled “3-13-17-24”, solidifying his connection with the Spanish art exhibition circuit.
From September 11 to 25 of that year, “Two” was displayed in the lobby of the School of Architecture from Universidad ORT Uruguay, aimed not only at students, faculty, and staff, but also at anyone interested in art and architecture.
In this way, the exhibition offered a glimpse into the inner world of one of the leading figures in Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, providing an opportunity to learn more about the creative process behind their work.

As was the case then, this time the proposal is presented as a solo exhibition, reinforcing the continuity of an artistic journey that engages with her teaching practice and her sustained work in the field of drawing and the visual arts.
“Dos Madrid” will be open to visitors from February 2 to 14, 2026. The opening will be on February 2 at 7:00 p.m.at Captaloona Art Gallery (55 Andrés Mellado Street, Madrid).
