Dr. Lorena Betancor, professor of Protein Technology and a researcher at the faculty, has been selected to receive a prestigious award at the4th edition ofthe “Uruguayan Science and Health Awards 2024.”

This annual event, organized by Juan Herrera Producciones, honors individuals and companies whose research and innovations improve people's lives.

Dr. Betancor's work in biotechnology has focused on developing new treatments for pancreatic cancer. Her research aims to reduce the side effects of current chemotherapy treatments by remotely activating enzymes directly at the tumor site.

The event has been designated as being of interest by the State Health Services Administration (ASSE), and the Ministry of Public Health is also expected to endorse it shortly. The ceremony will recognize various figures in the fields of science and health who are making significant contributions in Uruguay, highlighting their dedication and efforts to bring about positive change in society.
