In February 2024, a special edition of the Master’s Program in Trainer Development was launched, exclusively for 50 teachers from the Council for Education Training (CFE).

This is a training program organized under anacademic cooperation agreement between Universidad ORT Uruguay the Central Governing Board (CODICEN) of the National Public Education Administration (ANEP).

Universidad ORT Uruguay each participant a scholarship covering 50% of the total cost of the master’s program, while ANEP covered the remaining 50% of the program’s cost.

The selection of candidates was carried out by the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), in coordination with ANEP.

The Master's Program in Trainer Development is designed for those who wish to design, plan, guide, evaluate, and lead high-quality training programs.

“It is very rewarding to launch this master’s program, which is designed with the goal and hope of building a professional learning community focused on training trainers,” said Dr. Andrea Tejera Techera, academic coordinator of the Master’s Program in Trainer Development.

During the program’s opening event, which took place in December 2023, he highlighted two key aspects of the master’s program. First, the emphasis on applied research. Second, the focus not only on identifying training needs but also on developing proposals that address those needs.

We have the opportunity to decide what to prioritize in order to bring about change, and to put new ways of doing things into practice

For her part, Dr. Denise Vaillant, dean of the Institute of Education, stated that the new graduate program “is not just a master’s degree.” For her, it is a program that “touches her heart,” as it is a subject she has been working on and researching “for many years.”

Finally, Victor Pizzichillo, M.A., president of the Council for Teacher Education and a graduate of the Master’s Program in Teacher Training, noted that his institution has long been pursuing a “policy of openness” in its relationships with institutions of higher education, with the aim of promoting the professional development of its faculty.

“We understand that it is necessary, because teacher training is at the heart of the education system. That is where the changes and transformations that later impact the education system begin to take shape,” he concluded.
