The conference took place on July 12, 2021, and was led by Alexander Opazo, P.Eng. The presentation focused on the structural design of mid-rise buildings constructed using the light-frame wood system, with a special emphasis on structural performance. The examples presented were primarily from projects in Chile.
The talk was part of the events organized as part of the Specialization Diploma in the Design, Calculation, and Construction of Wood Structures, which is scheduled to begin on August 2, 2021.
Alexander Opazo, M.Sc. (Eng.), is a professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Bío-Bío, Chile. He conducts research projects on the characterization and modeling of wood components and structures, as well as wood engineering products. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Concepción, Chile. He is a specialist in structural engineering, having gained experience through professional practice at consulting firms, research centers, and graduate studies.
