October 16, 2019
The Department of Jewish Studies at Universidad ORT Uruguay the Mordechai Anilevich Cultural Center organized a lecture titled “Israeli Politics, Ideologies, Fanaticism, and the Jewish World,” presented by Darío Teitelbaum, a member of the Executive Committee of the World Zionist Organization and secretary-general of the World Union of the left-wing Meretz party.

The event, which took place on October 2, 2019, at the university’s Downtown Campus, provided an opportunity to discuss the Israeli reality from the perspective of the Israeli left’s political subjectivity and a commitment to intellectual honesty.

Teitelbaum served as director for Latin America of the Hashomer Hatzair Socialist Zionist Youth Movement. He taught Holocaust education and pedagogy at the Majon de Madrichim in Jerusalem.

Born in Buenos Aires, he has lived in Israel since 1979 at Kibbutz Gvulot, a few kilometers from the Gaza Strip. He also serves as a sheliach (representative) of the World Zionist Organization in Chile and Argentina.
