The consumption of interior images

Carol Garcia, a Brazilian with a Ph.D. in Communication and Semiotics and a Ph.D. in Fashion Communication, explained why, in today’s world, we no longer need more products but rather “inner images.” She also offered insights into what brands must do to achieve them.

Carol Garcia came to Universidad ORT Uruguay a guest lecturer for the “Contemporary Design Trends” series.

In a conversation with In situ, he said that experience design involves working with one’s inner images, and that the difficult part is choosing them, since there are so many and they are so varied. “If you pay attention to your dreams and your inner images, you can guide the selection of external images.”

“People today don’t need yet another product, so we’re using the time we have to seek out better experiences,” Garcia explained. “That’s why we’re drawn to brands that offer us interesting experiences.”

The fashion communications expert also noted that, these days, a brand’s competition includes, for example, the customer’s boyfriend. “And there are many ways for a brand to reach out to a customer,” she added.
