Anya Wainberg holds a degree in Systems Engineering from Universidad ORT Uruguay. For nine months, she worked on the Smartway project as Sales and Marketing Manager, a position she left in November 2011. She later served as Commercial Manager at the software company Simplifica, with which she continues to collaborate. Anya also taught Software Architecture and Databases at the Universidad de la Empresa. However, one day she decided to prioritize her artistic career and devote nearly a month exclusively to singing.
Combining his professional career with his artistic pursuits, he worked at technology companies while performing in pubs and bars around Montevideo. In 2012, she decided to prioritize her singing career, realizing that it is not easy to grow artistically in Uruguay. So, as her first step, she applied for a scholarship to study music at Rimon University, where she was accepted. Later, through a friend, she learned about the Hallelujah Singing Contest, a festival of Jewish songs held in Israel, and decided to enter. Anya was shortlisted among 100 candidates. In a second round, in which she had to submit a video of herself singing a song in Hebrew suggested by the organization, she was among the 29 finalists selected to participate in the contest.
The festival began in July and ended in August; Anya turned out to be the audience favorite and won the Audience Favorite Contest. In addition to showcasing her talent on an international stage, this experience allowed her to learn a wide repertoire of songs in Hebrew and explore her Jewish roots. She is currently working to balance her career as an engineer with her artistic pursuits.
