In 2001, he enrolled at ORT University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Administration. In 2005, he worked at; that same year, he won first prize in the competition “Development of a Growth Strategy for the Country Brand as a Tourist Destination,” organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Advertisers. In 2007, he traveled to Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, where he participated in the International Business Program. He is currently working in the sales and marketing department of the multinational food company Kraft Foods Uruguay.
At just 13 years old, I was already thinking about starting my own business. "In the early '90s, I used to go around the neighborhood buying and selling keychains; when I think about it now, that somehow ties in with what I do today and my plans for the future."
"During my final years of high school, some students were invited to participate in open workshops. That’s when I first became involved with ORT and began to learn about the program. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Administration. I chose ORT because I was impressed by how the program was structured."
"As I progressed through the program, I grew to like it more and more. Today, I feel that what I studied was really what I wanted to do. As far as the academic side is concerned, the faculty is excellent and very approachable."
In 2005, through the university's job board, she joined Petrobras. "I did a one-year internship as a communications and marketing assistant."
In June of that year, Sebastián entered the contest titled "Development of a Growth Strategy for the Country Brand as a Tourist Destination," organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Advertisers with the support of the Uruguayan Association of Advertising Agencies and the Uruguayan Advertising Circle, and designated as being of ministerial interest by the Ministry of Tourism. "I won first prize, which consisted of a round-trip trip to Spain and a 100-hour scholarship to participate in a course in the International Business Program at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona."
In early 2007, he decided to travel to Spain. "Taking the course was a great experience; we were all Latin Americans from different countries, with Catalan instructors."
When he returned from his trip, Sebastián started looking for a job and went back to the ORT job board. "I landed an interview at Kraft Foods Uruguay, and after going through the hiring process, I started working there. I began as a trade marketing assistant, and starting in November, I’ll also be assisting the marketing manager."
