October 19, 2009
Pro Internacional, a web design firm founded by Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, and Rosario Monteverde, a graduate with a degree in Systems Engineering, won the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards. The awards ceremony took place during the international forum The Women's Forum for the Economy and Society, held from October 15 to 17 in Deauville, France. The organization presented five awards, one per region (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America). This is the first time a Uruguayan company has participated in this event.

The winners were selected by an international jury of entrepreneurs and business leaders, who highlighted the project’s creativity, sustainability, and social impact. A total of 820 projects were submitted, of which 15 reached the finals. The winners received a trophy designed by Cartier’s jewelry workshops, a cash prize of $20,000, and will receive a year of consulting from Cartier, McKinsey & Co., and INSEAD Business School, tailored to thespecific needs of each project.

Projects participating in the competition must be:
- Focused on for-profit businesses.
- Led by a woman (as the sole leader or as part of the leadership team).
- In the preliminary phase or just getting started.
- The three main criteria for evaluating projects are:
* Creativity: degree of innovation and business ideas as a general concept.
* Sustainability: financial impact of the business, indicating the likelihood of long-term success.
* Impact: impact of the business on the community, in terms of job creation and the expected immediate or overall impact.

“We are truly very excited and happy about the opportunity presented to us. Regardless of whether we win or not, we know the experience will be very beneficial for us,” the graduates recently noted.

The company’s project emerged within the framework of the Ingenio business incubator at the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), co-founded by ORT University. Recently, after two years in the incubator, the company received the Ingenio distinction for successfully graduating from the program.
