A company led by a college graduate developed software for Apple

April 29, 2010
Do it Developers, a company led by Mariana Gutiérrez, a telecommunications engineering graduate, now counts Apple among its major clients, to whom it has sold software for the iPhone and iPod Touch that locates places to dance tango in seven countries (Uruguay, Argentina, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany). In 2008, Gutiérrez presented her project to the pre-incubator at the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), and since the idea was sufficiently developed, the group was referred to the Ingenio business incubator, where Do it Developers has been incubated for the past year.

In addition to Ingenio, the project received $20,000 in funding from ANII (the National Agency for Research and Innovation) to support its development as an innovative company.

Since the project was referred to the Ingenio incubator, the company has submitted three development proposals to ORT’s University-Business Liaison Office—Vincular—for graduating students to work on as their final projects. In this way, the university makes its support and outreach tools available to entrepreneurs at different stages to strengthen their projects and maintain the connection.
