“In two years of college, I never missed a class”

Juan Martín Vaz talked about what it was like to study Management Technician at the university and his professional experience as a sales supervisor at Montecable.

-In what year did you choose to study at Universidad ORT Uruguay, and why?

-In 2008, I was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences when I realized I wanted to shift my career focus toward managing people and organizations. I chose Universidad ORT Uruguay its high academic standards and because it offered a technical program that perfectly matched my expectations.

-What did you value most about college?

-Having had other experiences, what stood out most was the professionalism with which the faculty operates. During my two years in the program, I never missed a class or encountered any issues whatsoever. It is also worth noting the quality of the faculty, who consistently demonstrate a high level of academic expertise and draw on their professional experience to provide very illuminating case studies.

-How did you come up with the idea of pursuing this degree?

-I felt the need to delve deeper into the aspects of business management; I couldn't find the tools I needed in any other degree program to tackle a demanding professional future from a managerial perspective.

-How did the race go for you?

-I really enjoy studying this degree program, which I chose with great determination. I find the curriculum to be very comprehensive and up-to-date, making it immediately applicable in the workplace.

-What do you remember about your college days?

-I have fond memories of the professors, of classmates with whom I’m still in touch today, and of long nights spent preparing accounting assignments…

-What would you highlight about the program?

-What stands out most about the program is the curriculum. By the time I finished my final year and had to prepare my final project, I could see how each course had contributed to my education. I think I practically went back and reviewed every notebook full of notes and materials I had accumulated over the two years of the program.

-When did you start working?

-I started working in 2007 as a sales assistant at a real estate agency.

-How did your degree prepare you for the job market?

-In my case, pursuing a degree in Management opened up a world of opportunities for me in the job market. My business acumen, proficiency with management tools, and the administrative skills I acquired were key to landing my second job and continuing to advance professionally to this day.

-What are your plans for the future?

-In the short term, I plan to continue my education and professional development. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences, am a certified marketing analyst and management specialist, and plan to pursue an MBA.
