The goal of the competition is to introduce participants to the concepts of decision-making and negotiation in business by presenting them with a situation or problem to solve.
On Friday, August 18, the winner of the 2nd edition,Energía Pura, was announced; its members received a 50% scholarship to study any degree program in the School of Business and Social Sciences.
An idea that won
Energía Pura is a project created by students Juan Francisco Hernández and Maria Clara López from the Colegio Teresiano Rivera.
Its goal is to promote more efficient energy use by bridging the gap between health and environmental responsibility through the implementation of gym equipment that generates energy from human movement.
The machines included in the project are designed for cardiovascular exercise—such as stationary bikes, elliptical trainers, and treadmills, among others—and feature technology that captures and optimizes the energy generated by movement and physical activity.
Sustainable paint and hemp seeds
The other finalists in this year's competition were SunPaint and CañaMeat.
SunPaint is a sustainable paint solution that addresses environmental issues—such as pollution and air contamination—as well as health concerns. For example, it helps reduce the spread of surface-borne diseases.
CañaMeat is a hemp seed-based alternative to ground meat.
