Statistics for winning a game

June 11, 2014
AZsportech, a company founded by graduates of the Systems Engineering program, is heading to its second World Cup. This year, it will accompany the Uruguayan national team to Brazil 2014 to analyze the matches from both a team and individual perspective.

Krikor Attarian and Estéfano Zammarelli, the company's founders and directors, developed two software programs of great interest to the sports world.

One is Football Analysis, which categorizes plays and sends them to the coach for analysis.

The other one, Real Time, consists of a brief report to the coach at halftime and another one at the end of the game, covering more specific details tailored to each coach's preferences.

“Using the system, I can analyze free throws, corner shots, and so on. You get a summary of everything with just one click,” Attarian explains in an interview with El País.

The software, which began as a thesis project, is now used by 30 clients, including local teams such as Defensor, Peñarol, and Nacional, as well as teams from across Latin America, such as those in Peru, Colombia, and Paraguay.

In the days leading up to the World Cup, the AZsportech team continues to watch and analyze the national team's matches so that Coach Oscar Tabárez can later review the games or plays of his choice.
