Mauro Padula, a student in the Bachelor’s program in International Studies, was the only Uruguayan selected to participate in the 9th edition of the Program for the Strengthening of the Civil Service in Latin America, alongside 32 students selected from across the continent.
The training activities will take place at universities in Spain and Brazil that are partners in the program. They will begin on October 9, 2018, at the Botín Foundation headquarters in Madrid and conclude on November 29 at the Getulio Vargas Foundation.
The program was designed by the Spanish foundation to foster and sustain a commitment to essential knowledge and to help participants develop the attitudes and skills necessary for effective public service.
The program takes an academic and experiential approach and lasts for 8 weeks. During this time, participants will attend classes, attend lectures, go on field trips, and meet with individuals and organizations that will serve as role models.
The program is intensive, active, and participatory, and requires full commitment throughout the entire duration of the program, which means that participants are continuously assessed throughout the process. During the program, participants will engage in a combination of academic classes, lectures, workshops, seminars, colloquia, and discussions with professionals in various fields, as well as individual and group work with tutors.
Upon completion of the program, participants must present and defend a best-practices project that is relevant to the current social context in their own country or in another Latin American country.
