Blanca, a typeface project by Agustina Grau, a student in the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, won the first-ever Caja Baja Calendar Type Design Award, organized by the Caja Baja studio for design and visual communication students in Uruguay. The goal was to select the official typeface for the 2022 calendar.
The Caja Baja Calendar is a collaborative publishing project that aims to bring Uruguayan art, design, and illustration into Uruguayan homes through a popular medium—the printed almanac—which has historically served this purpose. It seeks to revive the various manual arts that make up the graphic arts as a fundamental part of our cultural heritage as a society. Among these arts is typographic design, which is why they are launching this call for entries for the first time in 2021 to promote the development of national typographic design.
