Professional Communication students visit the company Globant

April 30, 2013
ORT students visited the Globant company, where they heard from current students and graduates who are currently working there.

ORT students visited the Globant companyAs part of the lecture series organized by the Graduate Student Coordination Office and the Professional Communication Department of the School of Engineering, the event "Young People in the Workplace and Young Entrepreneurs" was held on Tuesday, April 30.

The Graduate Affairs Office invited the Professional Communication group led by Mag. Graciela Balparda to visit Globant, located in Aguada Park, where Santiago San Martín and Rosina Garrido, recruiters for the company, explained how they conduct their hiring processes and described the work culture that Globant prioritizes.

In addition to getting to know a technology company with a culture different from what most students expected to find—they were welcomed with fresh fruit, cookies, and coffee—other ORT students and graduates currently working at the company shared their experiences.

Adrián Konkolowicz, a systems engineering student, joined Globant three years ago as a junior developer; he currently serves as a technical lead and conducts technical interviews with applicants. He explained what factors are taken into account when interviewing a candidate for a position on his teams. For her part, Paula Cetrangolo, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Administration, is a Project Manager and shared her experience regarding project management at an IT company, the dynamism it requires, and the fast pace at which work is conducted.

Natalia Castiglioni, a graduate in Systems Engineering and a faculty member at our school, serves as a technical leader at the company and shared insights into the work processes through which they research and develop innovative products that add value to major companies such as MoneyGram.

This activity was conducted as part of the Professional Communication curriculum and in line with the mission of the Graduate Affairs Office, which works to build and strengthen ties with companies to provide better employment opportunities for the faculty’s students.
