Facebook selected a graduate to join its Community Leadership programme

Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Graphic Design, was selected through her startup GPSGay—a project incubated at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universidad ORT Uruguay—to participate in Facebook’s Community Leadership programme.

Out of a total of 6,000 entrepreneurs, 115 people were selected for their role as community leaders who are changing the world and making a social impact.

The program's goal is to identify and connect leaders from around the world so they can drive positive change in their communities through their actions. As part of this initiative, these young people receive training, support, and funding to help them make a greater social impact.

Entrepreneurs receive $50,000 in cash, a year of mentoring, media exposure, and support in implementing their action plan, as well as the opportunity to work closely with Facebook throughout the process.

The tour began with an initial meetup in Silicon Valley at Facebook’s offices in October 2018, where participants had the opportunity to meet the CEO of Instagram, the CEO of WhatsApp, and the COO of Facebook.

The second meetup will be a regional event in São Paulo in February 2019, and the final one will take place again in Silicon Valley in September 2019.
