Students majoring in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science are eligible to participate in this activity.
The goal is to encourage discussion of programming exercises similar to those used in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) competition held annually in Buenos Aires, in which the groups of students from the School of Engineering who achieve the highest scores in the ORT Programming Contest participate each year.
Championship Details
- There will be 10 ACM-style practice sessions, one per week, held in person, with teams of three students (who must be registered for the competition). Up to 12 teams may participate. The practice sessions will take place on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., from April 12 to June 14, 2018, in the faculty labs.
- Each day will feature a 3-hour simulation and a discussion of the exercises led by students.
- Each drill will be supervised by a faculty member (Andrés de Sosa, Marcelo Rubino, or Inés Kereki). The faculty members will select the exercises to be conducted and set up the online platform for the activity. They will also monitor the progress of each drill and track attendance.
- The results of each drill will be made public.
About the winner
The team that meets each of the following conditions will win the championship:
- The team that solved the most problems. In the event of a tie, time will be taken into account, similar to ACM.
- Have correctly solved at least 14 problems during the competition (including all stages).
- Have participated in seven or more stages of the championship (practice rounds) (70% or more)
- The team that wins the championship (first place only) will automatically qualify for the ACM Programming Contest Regional Finals in Buenos Aires.
