This initiative is designed to contribute to the development of public policies aimed at improving the use and sustainable management of natural resources in Mercosur countries.
This forum will be held in various parts of Latin America and will run for a year.
In addition, all forums will be broadcast via videoconference through the World Bank’s Global Development Learning Network and the World Bank Institute in Asunción, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Santiago, Chile.
In Uruguay, the program is organized by Universidad ORT Uruguay.
The forum will feature academics and experts in environmental issues, as well as representatives from nongovernmental organizations.
The first lecture, "Conceptual Definition of Environmental Goods and Services and Their Impact on International Trade Agreements," was delivered by Dr. Shigeo Shiki, who holds a Ph.D. in Economics from University College London.
