Organized by Universidad ORT Uruguay, Antel, and Uruguay Gamer, and with the support of McDonald’s Uruguay, the fifth edition of the Global Game Jam (GGJ)— the world’s largest video game event—will take place from Friday, January 29, through Sunday, January 31, in Uruguay.

GGJ is an event that brings together enthusiasts from around the world to collaborate on creating video games using original ideas over the course of 48 consecutive hours. The goal is to promote creativity and foster the exchange of experiences and ideas among participants worldwide.

The event offers an opportunity to explore the video game development process from various perspectives, including programming, interactive design, storytelling, and artistic expression. As such, it brings together professionals, students, and enthusiasts.

This year, our country set a record for registrations and confirmed participants, and has also doubled its capacity.

There are now 65 people confirmed to participate in this year's event at the local level: all available spots were filled in just three days of registration, leading to the creation of a waiting list for those interested.

More than 80 countries are participating in this year's event, including Paraguay in the regional section.

The theme for the video game will be announced simultaneously at all venues: in Uruguay, this will take place on Friday, January 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Idea Vilariño room at the Torre de las Telecomunicaciones - Antel complex.

On Sunday at 6:00 p.m., there will be presentations of the projects developed over the course of the 48-hour work period.
