The selected projects will be on display at the SUBTE Exhibition Center starting November 26.

"The project is a series of very personal sculptures that explore themes such as the mind, pain, and my sexuality. I had a month to prepare it, with intense days of nonstop work. It is one of the most prestigious art awards in Uruguay, so showing my work in that context is rewarding," Cortés explained.
Cortés will participate alongside the other five finalists in the cross-disciplinary workshop "Toolkit: Self-Management for Visual Artists, " led byCarolina Rodríguez Pino, M.A.This event is being held in collaboration with the National Institute of Visual Arts.
"This workshop focuses on helping artists become more professional. It provides guidance on how to better manage social media, create a website, and put together stronger proposals for competitions. I think it’s a valuable opportunity to continue growing and improving in areas that we as artists sometimes don’t have a firm grasp on."
What is the Paul Cézanne Award?
This competition was established by the French Embassy in Uruguay in 1982 and invites Uruguayan artists between the ages of 20 and 40 to participate and submit their artwork.
In addition to exhibiting their work, the six finalists will host a visit from the jury at their studios. Following that visit, the judges will select the winner.
The winner will have the opportunity to participate in a three-month artist exchange program in France to explore new artistic techniques. Round-trip airfare to France and living expenses are included in the prize, as well as the organization of a schedule to meet with artists and visit French institutions.
