Organized by the Asociación Civil del Audiovisual Fueguino (ACAF), the Institut français d’Argentine, and Virtuality LATAM, with support from Total Austral, Wintershall dea, and Pan American Energy, this initiative consists of a residency for research and creation in extended reality (XR), virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, 360-degree video content, full-dome experiences, holograms, video games, the metaverse, and virtual worlds.
The residency, which will focus on environmental awareness, will include XR training with Latin American and European specialists, accommodation, field trips, and awards, providing a conducive environment for reflection and work aimed at the creation, development, and implementation of projects with specialists in environmental issues and immersive technologies.
It will take place from November 1 to 19 in the city of Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego, and will feature 12 artists and creators from the region, with the first week held virtually and the second week in person.
Six residencies were awarded to residents of Tierra del Fuego, and another six to residents from the rest of Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Uruguay. Silvina Cortés—a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Design, Art, andTechnology—is the only woman, as well as the only representative from Uruguay.
