Two projects submitted by graduates of Universidad ORT Uruguay second and third prize in the "Idea: ICT as Tools to Support Education" contest organized by Antel.
Second prize in the competition went to the QuienLoSabe.uy project, developed by Alejandra Caggiano—a graduate of the Software Analyst and Programmer program and a faculty member at the School of Engineering—and Mariana González, also a graduate of the Software Analyst and Programmer program.
This project was developed entirely using GeneXus and focuses on developing school-age children’s skills in reasoning, language, and history. It also aims to integrate with the Ceibal Plan.
Third prize went to the TocaTú project, developed by Lucía Rodríguez, a student in the Bachelor’s Program in Animation and Video Games, and Mónica Carle, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Program in Systems at the School of Engineering.
TocaTú is a music game in which players can interact with the virtual environment by moving their hands in the air, creating musical compositions that are represented on the screen through shapes, colors, and lights.
Blind people will also be able to play, as navigation and gameplay will be controlled through sounds and hand movements.
TocaTú was the result of a collaborative project between the Schools of Communication and Design and the School of Engineering. It involved Carolina Zunino, an instructor for Production 3, as well as Virginia Morrone and Diego Cáceres, instructors for Video Game Development 1.
