Create your first logo
Graphic Design
Andrea Montedónico and Fernando Díaz—instructors in the Bachelor of Graphic Designprogram—asked the students to create “something that represents them, like their own brand.”
They listed several contrasting characteristics (calm vs. active, traditional vs. adventurous, nature vs. city, outgoing vs. introverted, hands-on vs. tech-savvy) and asked the young people to identify which ones applied to them.
“What you’re going to do is take a look inward to see what your personality is like. We’re not doing this just for the sake of it, but because this is the process brands use to create their logos. And we’re going to translate that into colors, textures, and shapes.”
Become a virtual sculptor
Design, Art, and Technology
In this workshop, high school students were able to create sculptures based on a virtual reality experience.
“We approach art from the technological perspective available to us,” explained Fabián Barros, M.A., academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Art, and Technology. “We’re really eager to try new things.”
The idea was to work with virtual reality and blocks. “What we’re interested in is creating an abstract collective work together. Starting with the shape one person places, the next person builds on it and adds another.”

Industrial Design
“Design is about making products user-friendly and appealing,” summarized Daniel Domínguez, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. “A designer needs to understand techniques and materials and be very curious.”
In the Design Labs, he showed them how a piece is constructed and deconstructed using joints, opening up possibilities for different outcomes.
Discover your style
Fashion Design
Having received her degree just a week ago, fashion design graduate Carmela Sotuyo reflected on the Átide project, which was the result of her work in the course “Fashion Event Design and Production.” “We drew inspiration from the shapes created by the airport when viewed from above to develop textures and silhouettes. What we wanted to convey is what a foreign visitor sees upon arriving in Uruguay.”
My first character
Animation
In the workshop led by instructor Victoria Barreiro, the students discovered how to combine creativity, art, and humor.
With the aim of teaching cartooning techniques, they focused on the importance of the silhouette in character design, basing their initial lines on basic shapes (squares, triangles, and circles).
Press play
Video games
Video games designed byundergraduate students were presented, and the creative process was shared with the high school students. Afterward, the students had the opportunity to try out each of the games.
Bring your world to life: experience the Internet of Things
Multimedia Design
Can fruits take pictures? Can stairs make music? Can your own body connect and create interaction?
High school students were able to bring objects to life through an innovative experience.
