Illustrations from the MEC to Shanghai

Graduates of graphic design programs once again stood out at national awards ceremonies and international competitions.

Two graphic design graduates were named winners of the 7th Uruguay Illustration Award, presented by the Ministry of Education and Culture. In addition, Dani Scharf was selected to participate in the Shanghai International Children's Book Fair.

MEC Illustration Award

The illustration work *Unidos* by Alfonso Lourido, a graduate of the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, won first prize in the Children’s and Young Adult Narrative category of the 7th Uruguay Illustration Award, organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

In the Single Illustration category, honorable mentions were awarded to Juan Manuel Díaz, a graduate of the Graphic Design program, for his work *El Maslow*, and to Lucía Franco and Dani Scharf, both graduates of the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, for *Recurring Dream – Blind Man’s Bluff* and *Time Marches On and So Does Life*, respectively.

The results were announced on November 19, 2020.

Shanghai International Children's Book Fair

Illustrator Dani Scharf's illustrations won third prize at the 2020 Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award, which is part of the Shanghai International Children's Book Fair. His work is also on display at the Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Exposition Center, where more than 100 pieces are being exhibited from November 11, 2020, through January 31, 2021.

For the second year in a row, he was selected from among hundreds of colleagues from around the world to exhibit his work at this international event.

Dani Scharf, who holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Universidad ORT Uruguay, has worked in the advertising industry for over 12 years, rising to the position of art director at renowned national and international agencies.
