Lucia Picerno holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Universidad ORT Uruguay a Master of Arts in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship from the University of London.

Two of his illustrations were selected from among 4,300 entries from around the world to compete in the World Illustration Awards, which has been organized for 45 years by the Association of Illustrators, in collaboration with the Directory of Illustration for this edition.

The winning entries are “The Future Is Female” in the Editorial category and “I Don’t Dress for You” in the Exploration category. A total of 500 illustrations were selected. The next phase will take place in June 2020.

In an interview published in April 2019, she said she likes to draw “women who confront you, who take up space on the page, and who don’t smile.” She added, “They’re almost always very feminine, but they don’t have a traditionally feminine attitude: they’re badasses.”

Picerno lives in London, where she works as a freelance designer and illustrator. She also runs her own business, Badass Femme, which promotes women’s empowerment and intersectional feminism.
