“Improving Online Learning” is a project designed to support university faculty in the use of effective teaching practices in online instruction.
As part of this initiative, online courses on teaching and assessment in virtual settings will be offered, and guides and instructional videos will be developed to support teaching practices. Additionally, opportunities for consultation, support, and follow-up will be provided for teachers who need them.
Dr. Gabriel Díaz Maggioli, a renowned educator and international consultant in the field of teacher training, was hired to join this program. Díaz Maggioli holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom and has led educational improvement projects in Latin American countries, as well as in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
In addition, Gabriel Díaz Maggioli is a member of the ANII’s National System of Researchers and has held various positions within the ANEP, particularly on the Council for Teacher Education. He is the author, co-author, or editor of more than 15 reference books and several academic articles on teacher education.
The main objective of this project, which has received generous support from Dr. Andrés Cerisola, is to provide comprehensive support to teachers in the area of online instruction and to enhance the quality of student learning.
This initiative stems from the conviction that teachers must engage in ongoing professional development to address new realities and challenges. In this regard, Dr. Denise Vaillant, director of ORT’s Doctoral Program in Education, stated: “As teachers, we must develop the skills to meet the demands of a new educational paradigm that positions us as facilitators of learning experiences and, at the same time, as learners in the field of teaching. The key to successfully navigating this reality lies in developing a pedagogical-didactic vision of technology use that helps us place students and their learning processes at the very center of the teaching process.”
