The Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining (MIEM), the Uruguayan Technology Laboratory (Latu), and Antel will support innovative electronics-based projects with up to 150,000 pesos per initiative.
The first call for proposals is open to both student projects and small businesses, which will have access to a two-year program offering training, government resources, and funding to bring their initiatives to fruition.
This first round is open, on the one hand, to advanced students or graduates of electronics-related programs—both college-level and technical—and, on the other hand, to micro and small businesses in the electronics sector that have been in operation for up to three years.
Participants will have access to a 24-month incubation program. The first year is free of charge, and they will receive up to 150,000 Uruguayan pesos to purchase the supplies needed to develop their product or service.
They will also have access to training and technical support, as well as to the infrastructure and equipment at Antel’s equipment center.
Interested parties must submit a project that involves the development of a product or service related to the electronics sector and that is also designed to generate revenue.
It must have an innovative component, and particular emphasis will be placed on whether the product or service that could be developed is exportable.
Applications will be accepted until September 30.
