On August 18, the Impact Summit 2022 was held at the World Trade Center Montevideo Auditorium. "The event far exceeded our expectations. We received very positive feedback from both participants and speakers, who even stayed to attend panels they weren't participating in," said Alberto Wakrat, Kehilá's director of institutional development, regarding the event, which featured extensive networking and drew a strong turnout of nearly 200 people.

During a day of inspiring talks, which brought together various prominent figures in their respective fields and in society based on their professional achievements, the speakers had the opportunity to share their experiences and make an impact on a diverse audience with varied interests within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to Wakrat, as a community, the Kehilá sought to provide young people with tools and answers on current, trending topics that genuinely interest them. The panels addressed topics such as Web 3.0, the metaverse, artificial intelligence, leadership, and entrepreneurship, among others. "In addition, we also gave young people the opportunity to connect with leading professionals in these various fields, providing opportunities to chat, network, and, ultimately, draw inspiration from and with them."

The university was also represented by Enrique Topolansky, director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, who participated in the panel discussion “The Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence: A Humanistic Perspective,” alongside Rafael Fremd, a graduate of ORT’s Bachelor’s program in Advertising Communication, and Fiorella Haim, general manager of Plan Ceibal.

"During the panel discussion, we talked about the future: how the technologies present in society, in companies, and in organizations are shaping the way things evolve, and we raised the question of how we are becoming increasingly detached from our physical bodies, along with the advantages and challenges that this may entail," said Topolansky.

During the same panel discussion, but focusing on artificial intelligence, they exchanged views and opinions on the ethical dilemmas that could arise from the unchecked spread of this technology, the rules that could and should govern it, as well as the benefits and solutions it offers.

"Events like these, which draw large crowds and feature top-tier speakers, truly encourage reflection—something that is essential for the world to advance technologically, but in a way that remains human-centered," said the director of the CIE.

The university also had a booth set up by the School of Communication and Design, where a virtual reality game was available for participants to try.
